International Repatriation to Poland

Mears Repatriation offers a comprehensive international repatriation service to Poland. Our all-inclusive price of £2,690.00 is based on a flight into Warsaw Chopin Airportbut other options are available, please contact us for alternatives.

If an overseas Funeral Director collects the deceased from our premises to return to Poland by road, the total price will be lower.

Local Airports

Suitable Polish airports with the required customs clearance are Warsaw, Krakow-Balice, Gdansk, Katowice and Wrocław.

Poznan Airport has customs facilities but does not accept human remains as the aircraft that travel between the UK and this airport are not large enough.

UK death certificate.
Embalming certificate - Mears Repatriation will supply.
Freedom from infection certificate - Mears Repatriation will supply.
Permission to take the person out of the country - Mears Repatriation will apply for this.

Consular Authorisation

A Professional, Flexible Service

We work with all Funeral Directors in Poland, providing a speedy yet professional service. We are usually able to inform you of the flight details within two hours, allowing you to book your own flight tickets on the same flight if desired.

It is worth pointing out that Poznan Airport does not accept human remains as the aircraft that travel between the UK and this airport are not large enough. Usually we then use Warsaw Airport via British Airways which is about two hours drive away.

Many of our Clients' appointed Polish Funeral Directors arrange to collect the Deceased from our premises and transport the remains by road to Poland. We will gladly take instructions from our Client or directly from any Polish Funeral Director.

If an overseas Funeral Director collects the deceased from our premises to return to Poland by road, the total price will be £1150.00.

Sometimes the legal and regulatory complexity of a repatriation can seem a little daunting, so we try to keep things as simple as possible.

We breakdown every element of our pricing so you can see exactly what you are paying for and, should you decide to entrust us with your repatriation, you will be looked after by one named member of our staff throughout. You will also have access to our exclusive Repatriation Progress Tracking tool, making it easy to follow every stage of your loved one's journey to their final place of rest.

We will usually require the Passport of the person who has died. However, if this is not available, please let us know and we can make alternative arrangements.

Special Procedure

A permission issued by the local authorities in Poland (the STAROSTWO or PRESIDENT of the Town or City) allowing for the body to be transported to Poland and buried at a designated place is always required.

Such permission is obtained by applying directly to the relevant authorities in Poland, depending on the intended place of burial, via the family representative in Poland or most usually via the Polish Funeral Director.

We will then deliver this authorisation together with payment (£47.00) and all other required documents to the Consular Section of the Polish Embassy in London to obtain the permission to allow transportation.

This will then be submitted to the Polish Customs Officer.
